It is a small mountain village 3.5 km southwards from the Tatranská Lomnica. The first written notice about the village is from the year 1294. Agriculture did not produce enough food to feed all people living in this area. Therefore many people kept animals, produced linen cloth, worked in the woods and offered services to tourists during summer season (since the 19-th century). Nowadays many of them work in surrounding industry companies, but the vast majority work in tourist-recreational services in the High Tatras. The sector of services expanded greatly since an auto-camping, a large colony of private cottages and recreational objects were built northeast from the village.
In the village, there you can find a Roman-Catholic church from the 13-th century (having two ships). In the 18-th century it was rebuilt in the baroque-renaissance style. The renaissance belfry was built in about 1600.
