Northernmost settlement in the Tatra's district, situated on the west from Tatranská Javorina, in the lower part of the Bielovodská dolina (Whitewater Valley), at a small river Biela voda (White Water) in a forested area.
   
The village spreads on both sides of the state border. It consists mostly of National Park Guard houses, buildings of two old customhouses and on the polish side currently a common customhouse with a passport checkpoint. It was built before the World Ski Championship, held in Zakopane in 1962.
   
Lysá Poľana is an international border crossing point from Slovakia to Poland.
